Victorian 1860s ball gown

 A rare occasion to acquire the dress from the Victorian Dressmaker volume 3 book!

 This is an lavish example of an evening dress, based on an extant garment - and a dream to waltz in!

 It was used twice, - hem might be a bit dusty! The price reflects that.

 Details:

 *  skirts and bodice are in dusty pink silk taffeta - over 14 metres went into this gown!

 *The bodice  is lined in cotton and decorated wiht a vintage lace.  It is lightly boned and closes at the froint with buttons.

 * all finish inside by overlock

*  the belt is in the sale silk with self fringing  and a bow

 *The skirt is lined with cotton and is box and cartridge pleated to the waistband. the decoration consists of a deep, elaborately pleated ruffle, bouf wiht a vintage grosgrain ribbon. the hem is protected by a grosgrain ribbon too.

* it has a pocket!

 The  bodice needs to be worn over  a suitable victorian corset and the skirts need to be worn over the huge elliptical crinoline cage fashionable in mid 60s. The skirts has been shortened a bit at the sides and back by tucking  under the ruffle - this can be undone if a longer skirt is needed.

There is a matching petticoat in cotton twill , with a ruffle  please indicate if your like it too! it is heavy, conceals the shape of the cage quite well.

 bodice  closes at :

chest:40" (101cm)

 waist: 28.5"  (71cm).

 armpit to waist - 9" (22.5cm)

 back width - 15" (38cm)

back length 13" (33cm)

Skirts:   waist 29" ( 72cm) - with another  gar placed at 28"

Front length ( bottom waistband to hem) 45" (1114cm)
